One World Week was held from 10th-14th November and is a week of events celebrating cultural diversity, citizenship and democracy.
Events included music, dancing, films, debates, volunteering and more.
With such a diverse student membership at UPSU, we need to retain and celebrate our cultures and share our knowledge and beliefs with others. UPSU also does a lot of work within the local community and our award winning volunteering society hosted lots of activities throughout the week, and we invited guest speakers to hold debates. While local music and dance acts performing in the Union.
The week coincided with our annual ‘Love Music, Hate Racism’ gig on Thurs 13th, with artists performing to raise awareness of the problem of racism and how we can prevent it.
The next One World Week will be held in March 2010 and we are currently looking for people who would like to get involved. So if you have any ideas of what you would like to see happen during the week or want to help other people understand your culture let us know.
