  QUICK Q & A

What would your super power of choice be?
Is magic a super power? I have always had a slightly geeky obsession with Harry Potter...

What trait do you most deplore in yourself?
I am too nice, this process is already bashing out the last traces of door mat in me. It is about time to!

What’s your most unappealing habit?
My bones click with a very accurate impression of shot gun fire... I don’t mind but I told it is not enjoyable!

What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
Chocolate, of every kind!

Who would you have at your dream party?
David Beckham, David Attenborough, Isadora Duncan, Beyonce and ...Keith Lemon? The fifth one changes on an hourly basis, I don’t think Keith Lemon is well behaved enough to be in the company of David Attenborough and Isadora Duncan!

What’s your greatest achievement?
With a week to go last year I signed up for the race for life, it was without a doubt the best thing I have ever done. I raised £202 in a week for a charity close to my heart and came out with a time that wasn’t half bad either!

What is your theme tune?
My whole life is one long theme tune; I have had the habit of singing just like Zoe Dechanel in New Girl since I could talk. It’s probably one that my housemates find fairly deplorable!

Tell us a joke:
What do you call a woman who is really far away? Dot!

Hi there! I’m Jade and I am currently a third year studying towards a BA Hons in Dance Theatre. My course means I can combine my intellectual interests with my energy and love of dance. The passion I have for my course is something I have found to be transferable; when you are doing something that you love, you do it better and the people around you respond to this. I have always been a people person and feel that the ability to listen is key.

Having had the opportunity to be both course rep and student ambassador, I have established an understanding of what students expect from university and what they want. I believe this understanding and skill for listening and observation will help me to become a sabbatical officer that does the student population proud. Throughout the duration of my course I have learnt the importance of inclusivity and I intend to listen to what the student population requires with regard to societies, volunteering and the UPSU media to make sure that every member of the students union can get what they need.

I have an enthusiasm for life, for people and for the university experience that means I want to make a difference. I want to understand the union’s services, facilities and capabilities and in turn how I can help to improve and build on them to the best of my ability.

I aim to develop a system that supports personal and career growth in the student population through the development of a system that links volunteering programmes and societies with the relevant courses. In turn increasing the possibility of graduate employment in today’s climate. I aim to make this as easy to access as possible to students that are new to university or just new to volunteering and societies. In order to keep the university and students union as up to date and accessible as possible I intend to keep improving the website, I will ensure it is at the forefront of technology and usable from all forms of wireless device where possible.
For me it is enthusiasm, passion and the desire to learn that has got me where I am in my life. I have no doubt in my mind that these skills will continue to serve me as well as they have so far. They give me the capability to adapt and learn, meaning I will constantly be able to the best that I can be. I am constantly able to build on what is around me in order to improve it and constantly strive for an SU that meets the demands of the student population through its societies, volunteering and the UPSU media website, paper and radio.
