UPSU have been informed by Chipmunk's management that he will not be attending this year’s Summer Ball due to unforeseen circumstances. Ourselves and Chipmunk would like to apologise for his cancelation and we hope that this hasn’t dampened anyone’s spirits for this year’s Summer Ball.

To replace Chipmunk we have got 2 artists that we feel more than make up for this loss.

Added to the line-up is UK hip hop legend Roots Manuva and electro dubstep DJ producer Kissy Sell Out.

NOAH AND THE WHALE

Noah and the Whale is an alternative / folk group formed in Twickenham, London, United Kingdom in 2006. They consist of Charlie Fink (vocals, guitar), Tom Hobden (fiddle, keyboards), Matt “Urby Whale” Owens (bass), Fred Abbott (keyboards, guitar) and Matthew Petulla (drums). According to Songfacts, the band’s name is a combination of the title of one of their favorite films, The Squid and the Whale and Noah Baumbach, who directed the movie.

ROOTS MANUVA

As one of the forefathers of Modern Bass culture Roots Manuva has helped define the sound of British Urban music. Born Rodney Smith is a British hip-hop artist, who mixes hip hop with reggae and dub as well as electronica, and even some gospel. He grew up around Stockwell in South London.

James Jacob AKA ‘Jakwob’ has seen his nascent career take off in the last few months. First coming to acclaim via some major appreciation in the blog world for his bootleg of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry Eyed’ and bolstering such support with his remix of ‘Under The Sheets’. Hailing from the Midlands, Jakwob is a multi-instrumentalist playing in many bands in his teens starting in jazz moving on to play death metal and folk.

UTAH SAINTS

Utah Saints are a British dance band from Leeds in West Yorkshire. The music is produced by Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt, who are joined on-stage by other musicians whenever the band plays live.
