Help! How do I....?
Having some problems with upsu:, the University or your college?
Well, firstly you can contact your UPC Rep or the Sabbatical Officers, or check out this page for some answers!
· - How do I...Log on to the Portal?
The Portal is The University of Plymouth’s intranet, which has information on Library services, contact details of Lecturers and an archive of online journals.
To log on to the portal you need to remember your University name and password.
It is a good idea to change your University Portal password to something you can easily remember when you first log in (to change your password, see top right hand corner when logged in), or make your college and university one the same.
http://students.plymouth.ac.uk will take you to the login page, and simply enter your password.
· - How do I...Get a University of Plymouth Card?
You should get a form for your free University card before your enrolment.
You will need to have a Card to ...
If you have not received your card or form, please contact your faculty office as soon as possible.
· - How do I...Access the Plymouth Library?
All students of the UoP (including UPC students) are entitled to access the Plymouth Campus Library.
You need your University card to enter the library, or if you don’t have one you can sign in at reception.
You will, however, need your university card to get books out form the library, so if you don’t have your card you won’t be able to take books home on loan, and will only be able to read them within the Plymouth Library...rubbish (so make sure you get a card!)
However, you CAN get books transferred to your college library, so you can borrow them for 3 weeks without having to travel to Plymouth- excellent! For more information, contact your college library.
· - How do I...Get an NUS Card?
You can get NUS cards from www.nus.org.uk! Click on the link , go to NUS Extra and simply insert your details. Remember to put the University of Plymouth as your institution (our upsu: website will get confused if you put your college!) and the cards will get posted to Plymouth and we can send them to you. Please wait to get a confirmation email stating your card is ready for collection before contacting us. You can also get 3 year NUS Cards this year, so that you won’t have the hassle of renewing it every year!
NUS cards entitle you to student discounts in loads of high street (and often local) stores...definitely a perk of being a student!
