“Hi guys! I am a student of International Relations with Spanish and am currently in my third and final year. Three words to describe myself would be: dedicated, determined and approachable.
WHY VOTE FOR ME? I am approachable and am always willing to listen to your suggestions, complaints or compliments. I never leave things unfinished, I will dedicate myself to whatever cause 110% and will always see it through until the end.
I CAN PROVE IT! I have experience: I have set up and then went on to chair an environmental youth group for 4 years. I helped organise two talent shows and fashion shows. I arranged several social events. I am my course representative and your current ethics and environment officer. I was heavily involved in the Funding Our Future campaign or the Plymouth Takeover. I have launched and organised the Burma VJ campaign in our Students’ Union including a petition and an evening event.
WHAT WILL I DO? Students in this city have a bad image which is completely non-representative of the majority! I want to continue the work in improving our relationship with the local residents that Aleshia is doing, it is so valuable. I believe we as a student body can take all the good bits about us- our morals and determination and show Plymouth how great we can be! Furthermore, we want to have a Student Union to be proud of, and it is for this reason I want to push for a Student Union ethical policy.
THE STUDENT COMMUNITY: The President is there to represent YOU so that’s what I want to do, foremost, I will promote further engagement with the Student Union’s parliament, only a minority of you vote in the elections, I want to change that.
It is my aim to engage all the faculties and groups to nurture a community mentality at Plymouth. I propose a community spirit week- I want all students, staff and those who are associated to the university to take park in a University-wide week of events with the aim of raising money for a local charity. The whole University community will work together with a common goal.
I have given you three reasons to vote for me: my character, my experience and my ambition. Is that good enough?”
