So you're probably wondering who I am or what experiences I have?
I'm a final year student studying psychology; I chose psychology because I enjoy working with people and understanding the different aspects of the human thought processes.
Alongside psychology I have been a very active person. From the age of nine I started jujitsu and I have been doing Jujitsu for 12 years both before and during my time at the University of Plymouth. Here at the University of Plymouth I have been an active Instructor, member and Chairman of the University of Plymouth Jitsu club and the Jitsu Foundation.
I still remember my first session doing jujitsu and it was daunting but it was the best decision of my life. Before coming to the University of Plymouth I taught jujitsu to both adults and children back home. Now I teach jujitsu to students at the University of Plymouth. Through jujitsu here at the University I had gained a primary instructing qualification, a mandate of teaching accredited by sports coach UK, first aid qualifications, and assistant instructor, instructor and club instructor qualifications.
During my time at the University of Plymouth I became the chairman of the Jitsu club and during my term I worked alongside the other committee members as a team to organise a number of courses gaining all of our member’s first aid qualifications and assistant instructing courses. Alongside this I also arranged trips to competitions, good equipment, visiting instructors and socials to give and overall awesome experience to all of our members.
I have represented the university regionally, nationally and in BUCS competitions and won medals. I had been awarded full colours and in 2008 I became the first martial artist at this university to be awarded a sports scholarship. Furthermore I continued my training and teaching experience and in 2009 I became the youngest 1st Dan Black Belt in the Jitsu foundation to current date.
As well as this during my life I have done five years of kickboxing, two years of yoga and I am currently doing judo which I have been a member of for three years now. I also like to participate in charity events and have been collecting donations the children's Rotary charity every Christmas the last three years. Last year I ran 14 miles along the coastal road from Polperro to Polruan and back again and this year they have signed up to the Plymouth half marathon.
I believe that a good leader/teacher will inspire others and motivate them to do well in their chosen subject/sport. However a truly great leader/teacher will show others how to inspire and motivate themselves, giving to them skills and tools they can apply to other areas of their life allowing them a strong foundation in which to build their own success.
I hope that this is giving you an insight into who I am and what motivates me to potentially do the best that you.
