My name is Takudzwa Mawera and I am a second year in International Relations with Politics at Plymouth University. I’m fluent in English and semi fluent in French.
I have an interest in understanding people perfectly to better contemplate, analyze and find ways to bridge cultural gaps between multiple people of different nationalities. This interest of mine is further emphasized and supported in my current degree course.
To that end I believe that to make a start on this enriching and life altering journey, this post is an excellent platform to learn more, educate, bring awareness, develop understanding and inspire engagement within the student body to carry on the will to influence and motivate others to develop a sense of unity. After all how does one hope to make a change in life without first addressing the root of the issues ?
I intend to apply the tools in my degree, personal experiences and utilize my personal skill set to apply the vision of the Plymouth University Student Union to the best of my ability. This is to be done through campaigns for causes close to the student body’s hearts, educational workshops, hosting fundraisers and interviewing students to gain a broader awareness and understanding of the benefits, achievements, personal experiences, opinions on the university and thoughts on how they think the university should further develop as well as areas that they believe need to be strongly emphasized on and addressed.
Ideas and inspiration are an excellent start for change but one cannot build a quality house on their own therefore, I intend to build good relations with all societies, if possible within the university and team up with other universities’ student unions in a variety of activities to create a strong opportunity to bring about the desired effect.
