BEN PARKES

As a fourth year student here at Plymouth University I have seen a lot of change around campus already in the pursuit of a more sustainable University. As a part time Environment and Sustainability officer I would ensure that students have a voice to continue these little changes and the ability to propose and campaign for bigger changes on campus, in the city and in the wider south west region.

My Key manifesto points:

Empowering students to promote sustainability

I aim to aid fellow students in running their own campaigns to promote sustainability, providing any support that I can and ensuring they are reaching the correct platforms to effect change.

·         Ensuring student sustainability views are represented in decisions made by the students union.

Keeping Environmental Sustainability a focus

Ensuring the University continues to work with the Students Union to keep Environmental Sustainability equally as important as financial sustainability.

·         Encourage the use of the universities world leading research around campus to increase sustainability

·         Making sure environmental responsibility is considered during long term planning

Encouraging a Holistic Approach

Looking at student impact not only on campus, but throughout Plymouth and south west region.

·         Ensuring students have the facilities and information to act sustainably i.e. making sure student letting agents provide recycling facilities in all their properties
