TAYLOR HERRIN

My name is Taylor Jessica Herrin. I'm a second year International Relations with Psychology student. I also hold committee positions across three societies, and have spent the past year or so as Secretary of the Society Forum. It 's been my job, beyond just taking minutes, to listen to what everyone has to say and guarantee all opinions are noted, to handle communication with all sorts in all ways, and to do my best to ensure that groups less-represented in the past get fair representation now. As Secretary of the Society Forum, I've been around to hear what you've had to say over the past year and how you wish it to all be handled.

I've not once missed a Society Forum since I was elected Secretary, and fully intend to carry that attendance streak with me if elected to this post. One who isn't there to hear you can hardly sufficiently be there to advocate for you. My commitment will never waver; those who know me know that when something needs doing, I get it done. I always find a way, and, as I do everything else, I will apply that to the responsibility of representing our societies. I know how to be charismatic and positive, keeping conversations upbeat while still getting points across and reaching the end goal. I stay sharp and composed under stress and pressure of all types and varieties, and always ensure a situation is properly handled. Both my course and my extra-curriculars would come to serve in this role, utilizing my political talent and understanding of group relations to communicate and represent the way you deserve.

I believe that no one knows what societies need better than the members of societies. Society forums are for you to air your concerns, your accomplishments, and your suggestions for how we can better the University of Plymouth's societies. I would be there to listen, answer what I can while guiding you where you need to go if I can't answer, and to take your concerns to the UPSU Student Council and stick by what I've been sent to share. I am there as a vessel for your ideas and your needs, and while I may have my own opinions on these matters due to my own societal involvement, I will in no way allow that to deter me from standing by the majority nor allow it to temper the enthusiasm and vigor with which I will bring it to the Council.

I promise to be there as your voice, doing everything I can and thinking outside of the box to make sure we, as both a community and individuals, get across our points and gain what we need to thrive. Utilizing my increased skills from my roles as Secretary among multiple entities and my ability to work as one of the team within a committee, group, or forum, I guarantee I am your best option of representation among the UPSU Student Council.
