Hi, my name is Madeleine Morton and I am running for the position of VP Activities because I have loved being a student at the University of Plymouth for 3 years and would love to given the opportunity to implement positive change.
I have been on the Ladies Football committee for 2 years now, this year as their captain, which has allowed me to develop my leadership. This is why I believe I will be an ideal candidate.
If elected, I would aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Celebration and Inclusion. I will try to encourage cohesion between student groups by continuing to develop the ICONS scheme to include a section promoting support to other groups through either supporting their charity events or going to watch fixtures. I will endeavour to continue to use the #TeamPlymouth platform to celebrate student groups and build on that by having a student group/individual of the month displayed in the SU and UPSU social media sites for those that have gone above and beyond.
- Mental Well-Being. I will endeavour to promote physical activity all year-round by using student testimonials that show the positive effects sports and physical activity have on mental health and sharing these via the UPSU social media accounts. I would also like the build upon the implementation of well-being advocates and provide them with weekly resources to share to their groups.
- Sustainability. I will lobby to have a campus-wide initiative to promote waste management by being more proactive about information regarding waste, including posters around campus and information given via social media. I would also like to promote the use of shared transport to activities to reduce carbon emissions.
Thank you for reading my manifesto and please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
