Sujoy Das

BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with Integrated Foundation Year.
What stage of your course are you currently studying?
Foundation Year
What motivated you to run for a full-time representative role?
I am running for President of the Faculty of Health to create a supportive and opportunity-rich environment for the students as well as the faculty members. As a foundation year Biomedical Science student at the University, I understand the challenges of adapting to university life, coping up with studies and activities. My role as an Opportunity Plymouth mentor has further strengthened my leadership and management skills. I aim to bridge the gap between students and faculty.
Why do you think you would be a good President?
I would be a great President because I am a proactive, approachable, and driven individual who genuinely cares about making a difference. I thrive on connecting with people, understanding their challenges, and finding solutions that benefit everyone. I’m a natural problem-solver, always looking for ways to improve experiences and create opportunities. My empathetic and determined nature means I won’t just listen to student concerns—I will take action to ensure their voices lead to real change.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Ambitious, Approachable & Determined.
If you could change one thing in your Faculty what would that be?
I would improve student support and engagement by creating a stronger bridge between students and faculty. Many students struggle to navigate academic challenges, placements, and career pathways due to a lack of accessible guidance. I want to introduce a structured mentorship and peer support network, making it easier to get academic help, placement advice, and career insights. By fostering better communication and support, we can enhance student success and create a more connected faculty.
Why did you chose to study at the University of Plymouth?
I chose the University of Plymouth because of its strong reputation in health studies, hands-on learning approach, and supportive student community. The university’s focus on research, innovation, and real-world experience aligns perfectly with my goals as a Biomedical Science student. The welcoming environment and opportunities for personal and professional growth made it the ideal place for me. I want to ensure every student feels just as supported and empowered in their journey here.
What is your favourite thing about Plymouth?
My favourite thing about Plymouth is the perfect balance between city life and nature. The waterfront, with its stunning views and peaceful atmosphere, makes it an amazing place to unwind after a busy day. The sense of community here is also incredible—whether it’s within the university or the wider city, there’s always a welcoming and supportive vibe. It’s a place that feels like home while offering endless opportunities for growth and adventure.
