What motivated you to run for a full-time representative role?

Having experienced the challenges of being a student myself, I am passionate about doing everything I can to make the journey easier for other students and I believe that the university should be a space where all the students can authentically express themselves. My key motivation to run for a representative role is to foster this sense of belonging, especially for students from underrepresented backgrounds or those who may feel disconnected from the wider university community.

Why do you think you would be a good President?

With a background in human resources, I believe I would be a good President because I genuinely care about creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. My experience as a course representative has given me insight into the challenges students face, and I’ve developed skills to advocate for their needs effectively. I believe in being vocal about my experience, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that every student feels heard, valued, and empowered.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Empathetic, Goofy, Passionate.

If you could change one thing about the work of the SU, what would that be?

If I could change one thing about the work of the SU, it would be improving student engagement and accessibility to SU resources and events. Many students, especially commuters, part-time workers, and international students, might often feel disconnected from the SU activities. I want to ensure that every student, regardless of their schedule, feels included and has opportunities to participate. I would also want to include more skill development workshops tailored to each subject of study.

Why did you chose to study at the University of Plymouth?

I decided to choose the University of Plymouth as a place of study because of the different accreditations it has and the resources it provides. I had the privilege of receiving a scholarship amount of GBP 9200, and that was the deciding factor. I also loved how University of Plymouth supports student employability and skill development. I fell in love with how kind the people are, and I felt home here more than anywhere else.

What is your favourite thing about Plymouth?

My favourite thing about Plymouth is meeting people and making friends from all over the world. I like to listen to people's stories and their experiences, and I have learned so much from each and every person that I have met here. I like how easily accessible every location and resource is in Plymouth, and of course, the Hoe is the cherry on top of the cake. I feel confident and safe, and particularly hopeful about becoming a better person after having met wonderful people here.
