Come join us during our Friday hangouts for some gaming on the big screens in the Rolle Building from 7pm-10pm! Room setup is from 6:30pm-7pm, so if you’d like to take part in some volunteering and help us get the rooms ready please fill out this form and we’ll be in touch: https://forms.gle/q3tL6D5S5nWg1NJx5

No Switch, consoles or controllers are needed for any of our sessions, we have our own consoles and plenty of controllers, but if you do have any please bring it along! We have access to lots of big screens and smaller TVs, so feel free to bring docks along too.

In this taster session SwitchUP will be bringing all of its consoles to give you a taste of what we have to offer! This typically includes but isn’t limited to Switches, Wiis, PlayStation 2s, Xboxs, GameCubes, and Wii Us. We also do a lot more than providing consoles every Friday: we organise teams for NSE and Cross-Uni tournaments; run monthly-ish tournaments (3 per term) in separate rooms during Friday hangouts; host craft events for special occasions like Halloween and Valentines; organise joint socials with a range of societies so other students can give gaming a go and our members can try out and learn new skills; prepare special one off outings like Animal Crossing Aquarium Bingo, gaming conventions, bonfire night, TWIST (board game cafe), cinema visits and more; plan one off events on campus like Nintendo themed D&D, quizzes and tournaments; and organise other fun socials around Plymouth including pub socials (SwitchUP does not endorse drinking). So even if this taster isn’t quite what you’re looking for, there are plenty of other events SwitchUP organises that you can get involved in!

We aim to be as welcoming and supportive as possible, so if you have any worries about accessibility or are just feeling nervous about getting involved get in contact with us via our social media/email and we’ll do our best to help! In the past we have met people in a familiar spot on campus to walk to the session together, or we have met outside the Rolle building, or just outside the room so you don’t have to walk in alone. We can make sure you’re able to get involved by saying hi, having a chat and teaching you how to play some of our favourite games! If that's not your vibe, and you just want to solo grind some Zelda or Mario Kart time trials that's also completely fine

If you have found our sessions a little loud or are worried about the session being too loud or overwhelming, there will always be a chill room where the noise levels and vibes are kept more on the down low compared to our other rooms. These are run by our Secretary Aspen (they/them), who also specialises in wellbeing for the society.

Snacks and drinks are welcome as long as everything is left clean and tidy, and help reorganising the room after the session is very welcome, we hope to see you there!
