Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (1665 hours per annum) 
Salary: Grade 2 – £23,616 to £26,393 per annum (FTE) depending on experience.  
Closing Date: 9am, Friday 9th May 2025

We're looking for a proactive Events & Business Development Assistant to help us deliver on this mission. 

This is a dynamic and varied role where you’ll be part of the team that delivers exciting events and drives commercial activity within UPSU. You’ll play a key role in supporting the coordination of events, liaising with artists and promoters, supporting student staff, and helping to deliver our core income-generating activities such as fairs, markets and large events. 

 

Purpose of Post: 

  • To assist and support the Events and Business Development team in delivering on the objectives and contractual agreements.  
  • To work as part of the Events and Business Development team to ensure that services are organised effectively and efficiently, with attention to quality, customer service, health and safety and the mission and objectives of the UPSU. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Maintain and manage the events diary. 
  • Act as artist liaison and support event logistics. 
  • Assist in the planning and smooth delivery of UPSU events. 
  • Support the generation of commercial income through media, sponsorships, and promotional opportunities. 
  • Deliver excellent customer service while promoting UPSU’s values. 
  • Work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, to support major events like the Summer Ball and Welcome Week. 

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • Organised and adaptable, with excellent communication and customer service skills 
  • Experienced in planning or supporting events (especially live music is a plus!) 
  • Comfortable working under pressure and using their initiative 
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent) 
  • Knowledge of the events or business development industry and experience in organising events. 
  • A genuine passion for creating impactful student experiences
