On the 28th January, 2023, eight University of Plymouth students travelled up to London for the South Regional Marrow conference to train up and inspire committee and volunteers for the future term.
The Plymouth Marrow committee members and volunteers joined 50 other students from across the south to participate in workshops, training and hear inspirational stories from blood cancer patients and stem cell donors.
"One of the highlights included hearing from Natasha and Claire, who shared their personal story about their transplant journey and what they have done since."
Throughout the day the team got to learn about what Marrow groups have done so far, including raising over £25,000 collectively, and attended workshops on fundraising, donor recruitment and diversifying the register - all with the aim to have a successful upcoming term.
"Overall, the event was a great learning experience, and Emmaunel, Plymouths President, even celebrated his birthday at the event!"
Look out for some exciting upcoming events from Plymouth Marrow!
