The University of Plymouth's Shipping Society recently took a trip to Cardiff on March 31st to attend the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers annual conference and dinner, and it was an unforgettable experience for all involved.
The event, which was attended by 36 members of the society, included a networking session, dinner, and speeches from some of the most influential people in the shipping industry. Past and current chairmen of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers shared their knowledge and experiences and talked about the importance of the institute in building a successful career as a shipbroker.
Apart from the speeches, there were also discussions on the current events in the industry, and attendees gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With so many prominent figures in attendance, the networking session was a great opportunity for the members of the society to make new connections and expand their professional networks.
The event was a resounding success, and the society has already started planning for future events and collaborations. Members of the society have expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to attend the conference and dinner, and for the chance to learn from some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry.
Looking forward, the Shipping Society is organizing guest lectures at the University of Plymouth from some of the attendees at the event. This is a great opportunity for other students to learn from experienced professionals, and to gain a better understanding of the shipping industry and the opportunities it presents.
Overall, the trip to Cardiff was a fantastic experience for the members of the Shipping Society.
