On the 15th November 2025, PLUGS (Plymouth University Guides and Scouts) members hosted a bake sale on the SU roof to raise money for Children In Need raising an incredible £363.71 (including gift aid).
Members of PLUGS shared with us an overview of the successful day...
Many of our members turned up to help run the stall, despite the cold weather, bringing their enthusiasm and it turned out to be a huge success.
We had many homemade cakes ranging from banana bread to cookies. We then did a ‘camp on campus’ sleepover where we enjoyed the leftover cake. Being in Scouting and Guiding, it is so important to give back to the community and this was such a great way to do it!
'I had tons of fun helping out at the children’s in need PLUGS bake sale, it allowed me to do my part in raising money so an important charity whilst being immersed into the university community. It was lovely seeing other donate and support us while also stopping to chat to us to find out who we were and hear their previous stories of scouting and guiding, it was so lovely chatting to people, seeing the generosity of others and the joy a bit of cake could bring! - Lydia Smith Plugs member
The bake sale for children in need went really well. We had loads of support from the students and raised lots of money. As a group we had loads of fun and enjoyed raising money for children in need. - Hazel Steele Plugs member
