Moving to a new country to study can be a massively exciting adventure but it can also be one that can cause a few headaches and come with added pressure. If you are an International Student then we want you to know that here at the University of Plymouth Students' Union, we want to do what we can to help you feel empowered and supported.
If you have housing issues, we can help. We might not be able to get you accommodation ourselves, but we can point you in the right direction and give you an idea about where to look. The Student Advice team also offer a free contract checking service, so if you have any concerns and want anything looked over before signing on the dotted line, get in touch.
If you are struggling to make connections or feeling a little lonely, the Students' Union run many great initiatives and events to help people connect and hopefully make long lasting friendships. Whether that is through the Buddy Scheme, the fantastic Give It A Go initiative, one of the fascinatingly varied student groups, or even just a one off event or themed night, there is so much to get involved in. Again, here at Student Advice, we can help point you in the right direction.
We can also help with any academic or disciplinary issues. If you do find yourself going through that then know that we can help support you through the process. Don’t bury your head in the sand, come and get in touch and let us help you start to lighten that load.
It is so important to us that each student gets the help that they require and for that reason we don’t try and help in areas in which we are not trained. One such area is around visas and immigration. The University of Plymouth have a dedicated Student Immigration Team that can answer questions on many issues related to international study. So, if you need help with the EU Settlement Scheme, Refusals and Admin Reviews, Short Term Study visas for English courses, Visitor and Hong Kong BN(O) visas or anything else related to immigration/visas, this is the team for you. The various ways to contact them can be found here.
