On the 18th of January, eight Canoe Club members took part in surf kayaking, led by Hannah (President) and Dearbhla (Social Sec) to try out a new disciple of kayaking at Bigbury!

"Members tried out surf kayaking for the first time - there were many capsizes but thats just part of the fun!

Members enjoyed surfing the waves and playing around with different types of boats in the surf. It was the first time our club has run a surf trip and so we got coaching by a hired surf kayak leader with many years of experience."

I learned how to avoid rolling by timing my paddling with the waves. The thrill of a wave taking and propelling me forward is something I thoroughly enjoyed having never experienced it before. - Tim
