Your SU Shop

Your handy little campus SU Shop is located in the centre of campus on the SU roof.

Inside the SU Shop, you can find amazing meal deals, yummy snacks, fruits, cold drinks, a coffee machine, stationary, University of Plymouth clothing and merchandise, and a variety of non-perishables, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products.

You can also pop by in the morning and pick up a fantastic breakfast deal (bacon, sausage or vegan bap, sausage roll, porridge pot, yoghurt pot, hot or cold coffee choice and water) for only £2.99!

Introduction of the Costing-of-living bay at the SU Shop: Recently, the SU Shop has introduced a cost-of-living bay with over 40 lines being sold at cost price. This means the SU Shop does not make a profit on these lines, and instead sells the products as cheaply as possible to ensure students have access to daily essentials and food. This range includes breakfast cereals, tea bags and coffee beans, tinned food, non-perishables such as pasta and sauces, feminine hygiene products, washing powder, bin bags, and more!

You can also browse new freezer foods, including a variety of microwave meals which you can heat up free of charge inside the SU using one of the free microwaves located in the SU Lounge.

Shop online and see the most up-to-date SU Shop opening hours here.

Weekly fruit and veg boxes available for just £3 with FareShare

We know that budgets are tight, and as we head into term, your priorities can change - lectures start, and deadlines start to get set – and thinking about what to cook, let alone factoring in healthy choices and balancing your budget, can soon get overwhelming.

To support students with the cost of living, we’ve been working with FareShare to bring you fresh fruit and vegetables at heavily subsidised, student-friendly prices.

FareShare is the UK’s number one redistribution charity and collects surplus food from supermarkets and suppliers that would otherwise go to waste and redistribute into the community.

Every week during term time, we will have a delivery of 150kg of fruit and veg, which will be made available for University of Plymouth students to purchase at the pocket-friendly price of £3 per box (card payments only).

Boxes will be on sale on Tuesdays between 13:00 -16:00 on a first-come, first-serve basis and sold from the Hive stage outside the SU Entrance (closest to the Smeaton and Link Buildings). Please bring your own bag!

Please note that the contents of each box will vary from week to week as it is dependent on what items FareShare have collected for redistribution, but the items above is an example of what would be included in a standard £3 box.

Let us know what you’ve cooked with your fruit and veg boxes by tagging us on Instagram (@up.su).

The SU Community Larder

As prices of rent, utilities and food items have skyrocketed, students face even more struggles to make ends meet. This is directly affecting the academic performance and general wellbeing of students. In order to support these students in the most effective way possible, the SU have launched the Community Larder.

The ongoing success of this initiative will rely on donations from staff, students and local businesses. If you are not able to donate items but would like to volunteer your time or suggest an idea for the development of the service, you can do so here.

How to access support from the Larder:

To make sure that those in need are made aware of all support available to them we ask that you visit the Student Hub, located in the Library, in order to be referred to the Larder.

Once we have received your referral from Hub, we will get in contact with you to arrange the most mutually convenient time to pick up a food parcel.

Contents of the food parcels will vary dependent on what donations we have received. We will always try to accomodate any dietary requirements.
