On the 14th of March, the University of Plymouth Pilates Club organised a Puppy Pilates Fundraiser in the SU to help raise funds for Guide Dogs UK!
Members of the Pilates Club shared with us the success of their fundraiser, including raising an impressive sum of money the club are proud of!
"The fundraiser for Guide Dogs UK took place during University Wellbeing Week, giving students the chance to support a great cause while also benefiting from a fun and relaxing experience.
Volunteers from Guide Dogs UK attended to speak with students about the incredible work they do, sharing insights into how guide dogs are trained and the life-changing support they provide to individuals with visual impairments.
Students also had the opportunity to spend time with the dogs and take part in a stretching session, promoting both physical and mental wellbeing."
The event was a great success, raising an impressive £1,200 for Guide Dogs UK to help fund their vital services.
The session was not only a huge success with raising funds, but also with how much those in attendance enjoyed the class: "I really enjoyed the Puppy Pilates—it was such a welcome break from all my final-year work. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and everyone there had huge smiles on their faces! The dog handlers were so friendly and knowledgeable, sharing so much information about the dogs and their training. It was wonderful to see the dogs, help them socialise, do an exercise I love, and contribute to raising money for such an amazing cause", participant Ruby Rakes shared.
I loved it! Seeing all the dogs and their backstories of how they are trained—or were trained—to be guide dogs was so insightful. It was hard to actually do the Pilates because the dogs kept jumping around, which made it even more fun! - participant, Molly Davey.

I absolutely loved the experience of participating in a Pilates class with Guide Dog UK! It was such a fun and relaxing activity, being surrounded by girls who enjoy the same sport and receiving so many cuddles at the same time! - participant and Club Health & Safety Officer, Mariana Estanqueiro.
