On the 7th of February 2025, SwitchUp Society organised a 48-hour charity stream to raise money for the charity Children on the Edge.
Members of the society shared with us an overview of the organisation of the stream and their success in raising an incredible amount of money for their chosen charity...
"The 48-hour charity stream took an immense amount of organisation and planning, but with both committee and members mucking in, whether it be doing fire marshal training and taking on stream shifts, or people just coming along and joining in over the weekend, everyone managed to get through it and raise an amazing amount of money for charity!
SwitchUP raised £1540 for Children on the Edge.
The stream had specially designed overlays for every single segment of the stream, as well as intervals with information about the charity and stories about the children they have helped. The money raised will support 12 children’s education for a whole year!
The society also completed 13 forfeits as different fundraising goals were hit, ranging from wearing embarrassing outfits to socials, to buzzcuts and dye jobs, to doing community service as Nintendo characters! You can check all of them out on the @switchupplymouth Instagram!"
The stream was a lot of preparation but it 100% payed off! All of our members were outstanding at getting involved, sharing the stream and donating, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to share the experience with! - Em, Stream Manager.
