What is the SU Fruit and Vegetable Co-operative?
The Fruit and Veg Co-op is a student-led initiative that aims to support students with the Cost of Living, and reduce food waste. By receiving surplus fruit, vegetables, and other groceries from the local charity ' FareShare SouthWest' , students work together in groups of 20 to sort and organise their produce, meet other people, and then get to go home with the produce from one of the Fruit and Vegetable boxes that they have made! (The contents of a box costs £3 - card only).
What is the procedure?
1. Prepay for your veg box through the online portal sent to you.
2. Arrive at the designated meeting point communicated to you by the Student Voice Team.
3. Communicate with the others in your group about how to divide the produce between the boxes fairly.
4. Work together to disribute all the produce fairly.
5. Once all the produce is distributed, flatten the cardboard and move it to area pointed out by the Student Voice Team.
6. Return crates to the storing point.
7. Take your produce home!
