On the 6th December 2024, the University of Plymouth Dance Club (UPDC) performed their 'Night at the Movies' Christmas showcase in the Roland Levinsky Lecture Theatre which helped to raise money for the club and for their chosen charity.

Members of UPDC shared with us more about their successful showcase....

"The University of Plymouth Dance Club’s Christmas Showcase was a spectacular success, marking our first-ever themed showcase, A Night at the Movies.

This exciting concept brought iconic films to life through dance, with each routine inspired by beloved soundtracks and cinematic moments. From high-energy Hiphop inspired by Fast and Furious to a striking Heels piece set to Burlesque and an exciting finale bringing everyone together to The Greatest Showman, every performance captivated the audience and highlighted the versatility and talent within our club.

The event featured a diverse range of performances across various styles, from contemporary and jazz to ballet and tap, showcasing the incredible dedication and hard work of our dancers.

The atmosphere was electric, with a sold-out crowd of friends, family, and fellow students filling the venue with cheers and support!"

Beyond the incredible performances, the showcase was also a major success in fundraising. We proudly raised a total of £685 for the club, helping to support future competitions, events, and opportunities for our dancers. Additionally, we raised an amazing £748 for our chosen charity, Beat Eating Disorders, contributing to an important cause close to many of our hearts.

We want to kindly thank the Indian Society and K-Pop Society for bringing something extra this year and letting us show off a wider range of dance styles. The seamless execution of the event, combined with the passion of our dancers and the generosity of our audience, made this a truly unforgettable night. It was a testament to the dedication, creativity, and unity within UPDC, proving that our dance community is stronger than ever.
