On 25th - 26th January, the University Of Plymouth Pool & Snooker Club (UPPSC) competed in the annual Southern Universities 8-Ball Pool Championships which was held in Southwark, London.
The Championship is a two day competition between 32 teams from universities across the south of England, it takes place 2 weeks before the national BUCS tournament.
The team had a 4am start to make the 200 mile journey up to London on the Saturday morning and after a long day of competition didn't finish their first day until 1am on Sunday morning.
Plymouth 1st dominated in their group games - winning all of them and heading straight to the top of their group. Next came Warwick 2nds, Essex 1sts and LSE 1sts - the team beat all of them to win a place in the finals.
The finals saw Plymouth come up against reigning champions, Exeter 1sts. Plymouth 1sts beat them 6-0.
Matt House (Team Captain & Club Chairman) said:
"So proud of the guys for playing so well & getting a well deserved good result. Big confidence boost for the team ahead of BUCS."
Best of luck for BUCS!
