During November, we, the University of Plymouth Students' Union, saw many clubs and societies take part in Movember, an annual event that includes, but is not limited to, growing moustaches and organising other fundraising activities during the month of November to raise awareness of Men's Health issues.

Your 2023/24 SU President shares an update on the achievements of student groups who got involved with Movember 2024...

"As the President of University of Plymouth Students' Union, I want to congratulate everyone on the outstanding efforts you have made in support of men's health in Movember 2024.

Students have raised an incredible £11,197, the highest total the University of Plymouth has raised yet, and places you in our elite Award group.

There are only a handful of universities in the country that reach award level status in one single Silver Movember campaign.

Students rallied together, and really went above and beyond for men's health. In recognition of all your achievements, you will be receiving a limited-edition Movember trophy, which I hope can be displayed proudly at the university.

Thanks to your incredible support, we have made history by collaborating with the UK Government to launch the first-ever UK Men's Health Strategy. This is a huge milestone for men's health and a testament to the power of the Movember community. The strategy will consider how to prevent and tackle the biggest health problems affecting men of all ages, including cardiovascular disease, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention. Your support empowers us to drive meaningful change, and we're committed to working with the government to bring this strategy to life."

Thank you for championing men's health and making change happen, and thank you to all the students and staff for their outstanding contribution to Movember.

In November, we saw social media posts from many student groups who shared updates on their Movember activities, with many moustaches filling the feed, including from the University of Plymouth Men's Football Club and SwitchUp Society (who raise £854 for charity).
