This year, Waterfront Running Club attended their first 'Welcome' period which included having a stall at the Sports & Fitness Fair and hosting their first meeting to introduce new members to the club on Thursday 19th September.
[...] the reception was insane. We have gone from around 30 members in our first year to hosting a meeting that had over 100 attendees.
I am so amazed by the turn out of the club meeting this week, it feels so validating to meet so many likeminded students who were looking for a club like ours in the Uni. - Mia Prosser
Waterfront Running Club aims to encourage fitness and socialisation in a non-competitive environment. They host three runs of varying length a week and a wellbeing walk on Sunday mornings.
Waterfront Running Club has definitely expanded and we are so excited to bring so many runs and events to our members this year - Mia Griffiths
It was important to us as a club that we gave space to people who may have felt intimidated by competition sports a place to get involved with all of the typical 'uni sports club' experiences. Which is why we host fortnightly Wednesday night socials and monthly sober socials.
We had so many people attend our Thursday meeting that we ran out of chairs, and people had to sit on the floor. Honestly, it felt less like a meeting and more like a really awkward game of musical chairs where nobody wins. - Sam Bennett
