If you studied with us last year, you might have seen that we as a Student Voice team support our Student Networks. You may have even been a member of some!

This year, we're developing our Networks, and we're introducing one major, exciting change. This academic year, each Network will have an elected chair, to support the work of the Network and it's members, as well as being a point of contact for interested students and people wanting to work with the Network. Similarly, we hope that Networks will work to hold the university to account, and to campaign for change both within the university, as well as UPSU.

We hope that having a role like this will help the Networks to support it's members to do whatever they feel would be valuable.

So, you're interested in being a Network Chair?

Great! There's just a few things you need to know and to think about first:

  • Like being a member of a Network, you need to self-define as a member of the group that the Network represents.
  • You then need to have a look at the Network Chair role descriptor, so you know what the expectations of the role are. You can find the role descriptor here.
  • If you have any questions, you can get in touch with the Student Voice Team through their email at studentvoice@su.plymouth.ac.uk.

Next Steps

If you're interested in becoming a Network Chair, the next step is to go along to the first sessions of the Network! For most of our Networks, the dates and times for these are set, and you can find them on our website. You can find them, and any later sessions, on our 'What's On' page here.

The elections will be run online, so that members can vote. Don't worry though, it's not too intense! We just need a little bit about you, and why you want to be the Chair! We run the elections online to help us count the votes, and keep the voting anonymous.

The process will be spoken about more in the session, and we will open nominations from the roles from then.
