Women's Rugby Club organise hike to raise money for charity

On the 29th of March, the University of Plymouth Women's Rugby Club (UPWRFC) organised a charity walk from Yealmpton to Ivybridge RFC to raise money for their chosen charity.

We succeeded in raising our goal of £350 for Papyrus, a mental health charity.

"The girls walked 10 miles from Yealmpton to Ivybridge RFC (their training grounds) through the Devon Countryside tackling hills, forest paths and passing lots of farms and animals including pigs, chickens, alapcas and baby goats!

Everyone dressed up in 'Where's Wally' Costumes for the day, providing great entertainment to the public and ourselves when we took our own 'where's wally' photos."

"The charity walk from Plymouth to Ivybridge with UPWRFC was definitely one of the highlights of my university year. I was initially hesitant to sign up, knowing it would be a challenge, but the club’s dedication and determination to raise money for Papyrus inspired me to get involved and contribute to the cause. Doing the 10 mile walk in our bright "Where's Wally" outfits put everyone in a great mood mood from the start. We loved when people spotted us and shouted that they "found Wally". We also tried to recreate our own "Where's Wally" photos by hiding in random places along the route, which was really fun.

The walk itself was so lovely, with great weather, nice views and loads of animal sightings (which we stopped to appreciate every single time). UPWRFC did an incredible job organising the event. It not only raised money for an important cause but it also brought the team even closer together and I'm so glad I got to be apart of this."

"I am super proud of all the girls for coming along and showing dedication to the cause and the costume! It was a really great day out.'- Lilah Khan 'I really enjoyed the UPWRFC charity walk to ivybridge. It was so fun to do something for a good cause that got us all together. It was a great team building experience as well as a good day out in the sun with friends. The walk was beautiful and gave us the chance to see more of the local countryside (and lots of cute animals) which I would not have the courage to do alone so it was nice to have the opportunity!" - Liv Jones
