THIS VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY IS NOW CLOSED!

St John Ambulance was looking for lots of new volunteers to help with their vaccination volunteer scheme, supporting the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine at vaccine clinics throughout Devon and the rest of the UK.

There are three roles for students to get involved with:

  • Vaccination care volunteer - Ensuring patients are supported and respond as needed to any medical emergencies.

  • Volunteer patient advocate - Meeting and greeting patients and ensuring they are comfortable pre and post-vaccine

  • Volunteer vaccinationTrained to administer the vaccine via injection to patients. For this one, you must have a minimum of two A-Levels or equivalent, which most students do.

All roles have a full training programme including some online modules and a full/half day in-person course depending on role picked. All volunteers are subject to fitness for the role, enhanced DBS and some experience in caring/advising. (This could be volunteering, through caring for family, through work, just experiences to draw upon really)

Uniform, ID etc is all issued and lots and lots of support available throughout the experience. Once joined you will become members of the Plymouth University unit - we run weekly training sessions and socials etc, all one big family really! After the scheme has ended volunteers are welcome to continue as part of the organisation into other roles such as event first aider.
