We are delighted to share the success story of our Ladies Volleyball EDVA team, UPVC Cyclones, who won the EDVA Ladies Tournament on the 4th of March. The team competed against six other teams in the tournament, and our girls showed excellent skills, determination, and teamwork to emerge as the champions of the competition.
The matches were single 25-minute sets, with two time-outs per team, unlimited substitutions, and a player could not serve more than three points in a row. This format produced a lot of even and competitive matches, and it was great to see the young coaches supporting their teams and trying their hand at refereeing.
The final match between UPVC Cyclones and Torexe Titans was an epic battle, with both teams displaying their skills and fighting spirit. Our girls managed to win the final match and take home the victory.
The success of UPVC Cyclones is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our players and coaching staff. We are incredibly proud of our Ladies Volleyball EDVA team and their achievement in winning the EDVA Ladies Tournament.
"The EDVA ladies tournament was single handedly the best volleyball experience I’ve had over the past year. It gave me the opportunity to showcase myself as a women in sport and brought all I’d learnt the past few months to the surface. I tried myself at a new position during the tournament and thrived alongside my team. I found myself enjoying the game so much that I was channeling power and energy on court from that alongside our amazing supporters and teammates on the bench. It was also so nice to be surrounded by other newcomers to the sport and learn alongside them throughout the day. Overall, a really good experience to push the progression of volleyball both within the university and local community."

"The girls put up an incredible performance in this tournament, demonstrating that with hard work in technique and team cohesion throughout the year, achieving the seemingly impossible is within reach! I am immensely proud of every single player who participated, as well as those who unfortunately could not due to injuries but still showed their support for the team. UPVC Cyclones serves as a perfect model for how a team should possess great spirit."
