Got Your Back

Got Your Back is a campaign centred around men’s mental health and well-being. The campaign was created to bring a community together, on campus, in a safe space where people can socialise, chill or talk about anything they may want to disclose.

Isla Symons (VP Activities 2023-24)

We’re all about men’s mental health, well-being, and safety of the men in and around UPSU

What is the issue and how has this been identified?
The reasoning behind setting up the campaign is to bring together a men's community on campus. Poor mental health in males is rising and the need for a safe space for men to come and take some time out is really important. A gap was identified and this is hopefully a space to hope fill that gap.

How is the issue impacting students and how this will be addressed?
With outside pressure such as the cost-of-living crisis on top of university studies and life, which can be a stressful adjustment, a space and allocated time to think about yourself and have a relax is really important. We hope that this space can facilitate that and create a really safe environment which is fun as well as informative.

What difference will the activity make for students?
We hope to build a community. A space of no judgement and a space to grow.

What are the overall aims of the activity?

  • Create a safe space on campus
  • Provide a space to be open and relevant resources for the groups
  • Build a community
