Peninsula Emergency Medicine Society

These are the aims of Peninsula Emergency Medicine Society

  1.  Provide Insight into Emergency Medicine Careers: Our aim is to offer an in depth insight into what a career in Emergency Medicine involves, exploring various rewarding subspecialties, including Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Prehospital Emergency Medicine. We aim to provide opportunities for students to experience working in Emergency Medicine. This society is open to all including those with a keen interest in EM as well as those who are still exploring their future specialty options.
  2. The Royal College of Emergency Medicine Affiliation: We aim to establish an affiliation with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, allowing us to initiate and host an annual Emergency Medicine conference, alongside regular talks and webinars featuring Emergency Medicine doctors and healthcare professionals
  3. Run High Yield Teaching and Clinical Skills Workshops: We are committed to providing a series of high yield teaching sessions for both preclinical and clinical students, alongside clinical skills workshops designed to help students prepare for mid-year assessments and ISCEs.

  4. Broaden EM Perspectives through Collaborations: We aim to expand our understanding of Emergency Medicine by collaborating with both local and international organisations, such as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the David Nott Foundation. These partnerships will provide valuable insights into Humanitarian Emergency Medicine and feature inspiring stories from those who prioritise saving lives above all.

  5. Promote Inclusivity and Support Aspiring EM Professionals: Our society welcomes students from all backgrounds, with a special focus on encouraging and supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our aim is to foster a supportive environment for future Emergency Medicine doctors throughout their journey in medical school.
