We are the Chess Society for the University of Plymouth! We host casual sessions for members to play/learn chess; with tournaments starting in the future. We are recognised as a club by the English Chess Federation. Please join the society and come along to our sessions if you're interested in finding opponents to play chess against, or if you would like to give the game a try!

If you don't feel like buying a membership without getting an idea of what our sessions look like first, you are more than welcome to come along for a tryout session before buying said membership.

Partnership with The Regency Chess Company

The chess society has recently partnered up with The Regency Chess Company, one of the UK’s largest online chess set retailers. The business was first established in 2008 by Julian Deverell and now operates from a purpose-built warehouse in Frome, Somerset. They are looking to increase their cooperation with clubs and associations like ours to further promote chess, something that benefits them as well as us! We look forward to continued cooperation with Regency Chess and support from them with our ongoing events. They have a 4.9 star rating on Google reviews and are keen to promote chess as much as possible.
