About:

The University of Plymouth Hockey Club is a student sports club. We have 4 ladies' teams that compete in local leagues at the weekends, as well as our 1XI and 2XI  also competing against other Universities in BUCS leagues on Wednesdays.

From April until the end of June, we join with the Men's Club to form social summer league teams.

Standard Membership Price - £70 + SU fee 

Training & Playing:

Ladies 1s and 2s - Train on Mondays (6.30 - 8pm), BUCS Matches Wednesday afternoon, Local league matches Saturday.

Ladies 3s, 4s - Train on Fridays (6.30 - 8pm), Local league matches Saturday.

Socials:

We have 2 socials a week. A themed social on Wednesdays and then a normal social on Saturdays. We also host regular sober socials which include team dinners and movie nights.

Events:

In March each year, the 1XI compete in varsity against Marjon Uni. This is a huge match that the whole club watches, with a massive social after!

We have 2 hockey balls per year (Winter & Summer) with the men's club. We also have mixed club events; Alumni Weekend, Movember and Club Day. Each year we organise a tour, with past destinations including Amsterdam, and Italy!

Fundraising and Volunteering:

We take part in many volunteering projects, for example, coaching hockey in schools and beach cleans. We also fundraise for various charities by entering the Plymouth 10k and half marathon, running bake sales, 24-hour danceathons and hosting club days.

In March 2023 our 2s and 3s raised over £2,200 for Breast Cancer UK and Mind for our 'True varsity' event.
