We want to be as inclusive as possible to our members, here is a link to an  ACCESSIBILITY FORM . Three of our committee are trained in disability inclusion training for sports coaches and can help make any accomodations necessary for you. 

Waterfront Running Club aims to encourage fitness and socialisation in a non-competitive environment. Our vision is to create a safe, friendly environment for people to be able to exercise and feel confident ultimately boosting mental health and decreasing stress.  
 

As a precaution, headphones are banned from runs to ensure the safety and awareness of all participants. Wearing headphones can significantly reduce a runner’s ability to hear important sounds, such as traffic, emergency vehicles, verbal instructions from run leaders, or warnings from fellow runners. This lack of awareness can increase the risk of accidents, especially when running on roads, trails, or in group settings where communication is essential. Additionally, being fully present and alert allows runners to better engage with the group, fostering a sense of community and improving the overall running experience. Prioritising safety and connection over personal music or podcasts ensures that everyone can enjoy the run responsibly.

 

Tiered Running Schedule: 

Tier 1: Campus to 5k  - Monday 7 & 8pm 

This Tier resembles the famous couch to 5k program it will be led by two committee members designed for absolute beginners. 

TIER 2 : Beach Baes - Walking and Talking - Sunday 10am

This tier is a walking and talking session, the walks will be about 5k (3 miles) and is often integrated with going out for breakfast, picnics or study sessions. 

TIER 3: Blue Waves -  Short jog/run - Thursday 7pm 

This run will be  2/3k, it can be run or walked as you wish to. Warm up is provided by the Run captain and routes vary each week. 

TIER 4: Sun Rays - 5k jog/run - Saturday 10am (8:30am on Parkrun Weeks) 

This is our longest run and can be run at any pace that you wish.

To ensure that everybody feels involved our committee members will be spread out throughout the running group and you will never be left behind! Warm up provided by the Run captain. 

Events & Fundraising 

As a non-competitive running club we will not be attending any competitions or BUCS events. 

Throughout the terms we intend to throw themed and fun runs, and charity challenges to fundraise for our charity: Mind Devon 

Community and Socials: 

  • This year we are aiming to encourage running with confidence and also running safely. Please answer our accessibility form if you have any accomdations to be catered for that we need to be aware of! 
  • We have sponsorships with local business and pubs which we will attend on social events 
  • We aim to host Wednesday night socials every 2 weeks and sober socials monthly in local establishments 

Memberships: 

  • Paid members get discounts and VIP cards to local establishments 
  • Membership also entitles you to attend socials which are often free of charge
